Water, Water Everywhere
As its name indicates, the community of Edgewater is located on the waterside. North of it is the South River; Chesapeake Bay is to the east; and the Rhode and West Rivers lie to the south. That's certainly a lot of water to edge.
Approximately 5 miles away from the city of Annapolis, Edgewater is famous for the abundance of its marinas, restaurants and shopping venues. The area's most popular draw, however, has to be the Historic London Town and Gardens, a 23-acre park on the South River. Within the site are parts of the 17 th century town of London, seat of Anne Arundel County from 1684 to1695. Archaeologists from the Lost Towns Project are currently excavating it.
With a population of almost 17,000, Edgewater is in the process of growing. A favorite among boating enthusiasts who love its easygoing vibe, Edgewater real estate is steadily gaining attention and is slated to be some of the hottest property around.
The community's excellent location is one of its many attractions. Only 30 miles to Washington, D.C. and 31 to Baltimore, Edgewater is also near two major airports - the Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) and the Ronald Reagan National Airport in D.C.
There's a variety of housing to be had in the area, from condominiums to single-family homes and larger, estate-type properties. The most sought-after Edgewater real estate is, of course, the waterfront home which can go for $200,000 to over $2 million.
