Come Home to Arnold
Named after a War of 1812 veteran who first settled the area in the 19 th century, Arnold is located between the Magothy and Severn Rivers directly below Severna Park. Almost a fifth of its total area of 34.7 square kilometers is water. Nearly surrounded by it, this census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County contains a wealth of breathtaking riverside scenes and beaches. It also has literally a dozen marinas. Arnold, MD real estate is particularly prized because it mostly comes in the form of dock properties and waterfront homes.
As of the 2000 census, Arnold's population was 23,422, making it one of the more important CDPs in the county. Not only is it a thriving port town, it's also home to the Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). Dubbed "Community College of the Year" by the National Business Alliance in 2000, AACC has also been the recipient of other awards like the Exemplary Initiatives Award in 2005 and it was named one of 2007's Top Ten Digital Community Colleges.
Aside from the numerous activities that being near a body of water provides, there's also a lot of things to do on dry land. You can go golfing at the Bay Hills Golf Course, go horseback riding around a farm, or commune with nature at the nearby Sandy Point State Park. If sedentary activities are more your thing, you may want to try out some of excellent cuisine in the area's restaurants.
