Living in Annapolis
Anyone who's ever spent time in Annapolis will most likely tell you that the city is beautiful and that it's a great place to visit. Visiting and actually living permanently in a certain place are two completely different kettles of fish (or blue crab), however. But, luckily for you, Annapolis just happens to be a great place to visit and live.
The closest state capital to Washington, D.C., the city is only around 34 miles east of the country's capital and is about 31 miles south of Baltimore. It's a less than an hour's drive from Annapolis to these cities, and a lot of people who have jobs there willingly make the commute. After all, where would you rather live - in a lovely, un-congested Colonial-style city or an overcrowded mega-metropolis?
With a population of only 35,838 people in a total area of 19.7 square kilometers, Annapolis is a relatively small city. And, as more and more people have been realizing lately, small is actually a good thing to be. Small means you can walk to the grocery store or the park, it means you're more likely to know who your next-door neighbors are, and it means that you have time to just be.
Like the city, Annapolis, Maryland homes are a comfortable mix of the old and the new. There's also a diversity of styles, from contemporaries and Cape Cods to Federal-style mansions and Chesapeake estates.
